Maria Capp
Maria has been actively involved in entertainment and the arts for over 20 years. Her multi-disciplinary expertise includes work as an award-winning director, producer, writer, as well as an entrepreneur, and acting coach. She has served as an advocate, speaker, committee and board member for such organizations as the Youth Biz Alliance, NYSTEA, EdTA, Breaking Into Hollywood, BOCES - Arts in Education, Kids for Kids Productions, Cinema At The Edge, Sundance Film Festival panel speaker and much more. Maria hopes to be an example to other females entering the entertainment industry specifically that age and gender DO NOT matter. As a woman over 40, she has been able to write, direct, and produce her own content along with getting hired to take projects from development through post production and sales in various roles.
In 2012 Maria formed Cappricielli Inc., a multi-faceted production company that creates a wide array of entertaining and socially conscious film, video, theatre, and music content. She has produced award-winning music videos, screenplays, short films, and feature films, earning her "p.g.a. mark" on several of the feature films. Maria is a member of the Producers Guild of America.
A lover of music, Maria consistently creates award winning music and music videos including HURRICANE featuring Emmy award winning rapper Chris Redd (Saturday Night Live) and Emmy award winning hair and makeup artist, Mo Meinhart (Hulu’s Pam and Tommy). HURRICANE won for Best Music Video Award and Grand Jury Award for an Artist award-winning performance by Raffaela. Maria enjoyed returning to her musical theater roots directing Broadway musical theater veterans, Arielle Jacobs (Disney’s Aladdin, Wicked, In the Heights), Brad Standley (Waitress, In Transit), and Ben Jeffrey (The Lion King) in two music videos: Platonic Tea and Make The Story Matter.
Her award winning feature film REACH starring Garret Clayton, Jordan Doww, Corbin Bernsen, and Kevin Sizemore was nominated for best feature, best screenplay at the Westfield International Film Festival, and Garret Clayton won best lead actor in a drama at CATE International Film Festival. Her documentary, Find an Identity, follows Reach’s footsteps to reiterate “the power of kindness' , and was nominated for best documentary in the New York Long Island Film Festival and Burbank International Film Festival. During 2021 Maria gathered the cast of REACH in a live virtual event directing an authentic conversation about mental health during a global pandemic.
After directing the successful world premiere of the one act play, Pizza & Whine at the Hudson Guild Theatres in New York and Los Angeles, Maria adapted the two main characters, Jennifer and Natalyn to the screen in the Marvista Entertainment holiday film, Four Cousins and a Christmas, now available on Hulu, Peacock, and Tubi. The film and Maria were nominated at the prestigious Crown Point International Film Festival as best drama, best supporting actress for Teri Polo, Robert Davi as honorable mention for lead actor, and best director. Maria secured a record label producing the soundtrack of the same name.
Maria is excited to bring her 2nd directorial feature film home for its worldwide premiere at The Long Island International Film Expo: The Lady of the Lake: The Legend of Lake Ronkonkoma, starring Seth Gilliam (The Walking Dead, Teen Wolf), Nia Sioux (Dance Moms, Imperfect High), Emery Kelly (Alexa and Katie, Big Shot) and Larry Saperstein (Disney’s High School Musical: The Musical: The Series).
